Tory Lanez and his wife, Raina Chassagne, are parting ways after less than a year of marriage. Chassagne filed for divorce from the “The Color Violet” singer in June 2024, listing their separation date as June 1, 2024. The couple married on June 25, 2023.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a 2020 incident. The couple shares a child, Kai’lon, who was born on April 12, 2017. Kai’lon has been a frequent presence at Lanez’s court appearances and has visited his father in prison.
Chassagne, a Florida native, attended Lanez’s sentencing hearing in August 2023, advocating for a lesser sentence. She described Lanez as an “ambitious and trusting person.” After Lanez received a 10-year sentence, Chassagne was seen in tears outside the courthouse.
Their relationship, marked by rapid developments, was publicly confirmed through court documents in September 2023. Despite their brief marriage, Chassagne is seeking sole legal and physical custody of their son, Kai’lon, citing irreconcilable differences. She has not requested spousal support but reserves the right for future determination by the court.
