Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme 2024, aiming to strengthen agricultural infrastructure and empower farmers. This initiative, backed by a meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz and attended by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.

The Punjab Green Tractor Scheme 2024 includes several initiatives aimed at benefiting farmers in the province. One important aspect is the creation of the Punjab Farmers Bank, which will make it easier for farmers to obtain loans, reducing financial stress and fostering agricultural development.

During the meeting, there were talks about providing subsidies for tractors. Initially, there was a suggestion to give a Rs. 600,000 subsidy on tractors, but Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz decided on a more specific approach. She directed a 70% subsidy for small tractors and a 50% subsidy for large tractors. This targeted subsidy allocation aims to maximize benefits for farmers of various scales.

The government has ambitious goals for distributing tractors through this scheme, aiming to distribute 10,000 tractors. This demonstrates the government’s dedication to improving agricultural mechanization and efficiency. The Chief Minister has also directed that the first phase of the tractor scheme be completed within a year, ensuring quick implementation and benefits for farmers.

The eligibility criteria for the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme are designed to be inclusive, targeting a broad range of farmers. Those with land holdings ranging from 6 to 50 acres are eligible to apply, ensuring that small and medium-scale farmers can also benefit from the scheme.

The government has not yet shared detailed information about the application process for subsidized tractors under the scheme. Farmers interested in benefiting from these subsidies are advised to stay informed about official announcements regarding the application procedures.
