- Coin toss crucial for India vs Pakistan match, said Aakash.
- India won their opening match against Ireland.
- He said that wounded Pakistan could be dangerous.
Ex-cricketer Aakash Chopra opines that the coin toss could be a significant factor in today’s high-stakes game between India and Pakistan at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.
The Indian squad, captained by Rohit Sharma, has already tasted victory in their opening T20 World Cup match against Ireland at the same venue, winning by 8 wickets.
Conversely, Pakistan suffered a significant loss in their first match against the USA, which was decided in a Super Over at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
The cricket pundit suggests that the Men in Blue could continue their winning streak, having won six out of seven T20I matches against Pakistan. He also speculates that Pakistan, after their defeat to the USA, could make a comeback in the upcoming game.
“There will be pressure (on both teams). Pakistan are generally a dangerous side when they’re wounded, and that’s exactly how they’re right now after losing to the USA. If they lose to India, their campaign will be as good as over. You’ve got to be really careful. The toss will be very crucial on this (New York) surface, but I still feel that India should start as favourites because our team is a lot better than theirs,” Chopra shared with IANS on the eve of the high-profile match.
He further posits that Hardik Pandya’s dual contribution in batting and bowling could be a game-changer for the 2007 champions.
“There will be a lot more focus on Indian bowlers as the conditions are favourable for them. Hardik Pandya could be the trump card player with the ball and with the bat,” Chopra further stated.
In addition, apart from their win in the 2021 T20 World Cup match in Dubai, Pakistan has never managed to beat India in any World Cup game, be it T20 or ODI.
