Cement prices rise in Pakistan

An increase in the retail price of cement has been observed across Pakistan over the past week. According to the weekly report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the average price of cement per sack in the northern cities was recorded at Rs 1286 for the week ending June 6, marking a 2.11% increase from the previous week’s average of Rs 1260 per sack.

In the southern cities, the average price of cement per sack rose slightly to Rs 1199, a 0.08% increase from the previous week’s average of Rs 1198 per sack.

Detailed regional data reveals the following prices for a sack of cement: Islamabad at Rs 1294, Rawalpindi at Rs 1281, Gujranwala at Rs 1300, Sialkot at Rs 1260, Lahore at Rs 1300, Faisalabad at Rs 1280, Sargodha at Rs 1273, Multan at Rs 1281, Bahawalpur at Rs 1300, Peshawar at Rs 1300, and Bannu at Rs 1280.

In the southern region, the average prices were recorded as follows: Karachi at Rs 1165, Hyderabad at Rs 1180, Sukkur at Rs 1290, Larkana at Rs 1173, Quetta at Rs 1210, and Khuzdar at Rs 1177.

The increase in cement prices highlights regional variations and suggests potential implications for construction costs and economic activities in both northern and southern parts of the country.

The data underscores the need for close monitoring of price trends to understand the broader economic impacts.
