Lahore, Punjab Weather Update: More Rains & Winds predicted

LAHORE: More rain and thunderstorms are expected in Lahore and other parts of Punjab on Friday evening/night and Saturday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). A westerly wave currently affecting the upper and central regions of Pakistan is anticipated to move eastwards within the next 12-18 hours.

As a result, rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for isolated areas including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Layyah, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Lodhran, Vehari, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Lahore, Kasur, and Okara on Friday evening/night.

On Saturday, most districts of the province are expected to experience mainly hot and dry weather. However, isolated rain and thunderstorms are likely in areas such as Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Jhelum, Layyah, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran, Vehari, Khanewal, Sahiwal, and Pakpattan during the evening and night.

In Lahore, the maximum temperatures are expected to range between 40-42°C on Saturday and Sunday. Over the past 24 hours, isolated places in Punjab have already experienced rain and thunderstorms, with notable rainfall amounts recorded in Mandi Bahauddin (23 mm), Khanewal (08 mm), Kasur (06 mm), Gujranwala (04 mm), Gujrat (03 mm), and Sialkot (City 02 mm, Airport 01 mm). Other areas such as Chakwal, Okara, and Bahawalnagar received 01 mm of rain.

Bahawalpur was the hottest location in the province, with the maximum temperature reaching 42°C. The relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 27 percent.
