Pakistan introduces laptop scheme for Students

In a significant move to enhance education and technological access, the federal government of Pakistan has announced the “Laptop for All” initiative, set to launch next year.

This groundbreaking scheme aims to provide laptops to students nationwide through interest-free loans.

Rana Mashhood, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), announced during a press conference, outlining the program’s objectives and implementation strategy.

Under this initiative, students can obtain laptops from banks without incurring any interest charges.

Mashhood detailed the scheme’s progress, noting that the government is finalizing its operational details. Decisions regarding the provision of interest-free laptops are expected soon.

Despite acknowledging the financial challenges faced by the interim government, exacerbated by stringent IMF conditions, Mashhood assured that the “Laptop for All” initiative would be seamlessly integrated into the upcoming fiscal budget.

He also highlighted that the previous budget missed the opportunity due to the transition between governments and financial constraints during the interim period.

However, he reassured the public that the upcoming fiscal plan would rectify this by including provisions for laptop distribution to students.

The “Laptop for All” scheme aims to bridge the digital divide and empower students with essential tools for modern education.

It aligns with the government’s commitment to fostering a technologically proficient and educated society, representing a significant step towards ensuring equitable access to education and enhancing digital literacy among Pakistan’s youth.
