T20 World Cup 2024: Imad Wasim ruled out of Pakistan’s opening match

  • Imad Wasim has been ruled out of Pakistan’s opening match.
  • Imad may join later matches depending on his recovery.
  • Imad’s absence could impact Pakistan’s performance.

The Pakistan cricket team faces a challenge as Imad Wasim, a key all-rounder, is ruled out for the T20 World Cup’s opening match against the USA on June 6. Team captain Babar Azam confirmed the situation, stating: “Imad Wasim is suffering from a side strain, which means he won’t be able to play in our opening match.”

Currently 35 years old, Imad is dealing with a side injury, but there is a possibility of him joining the World Cup games later, depending on his recovery.

Babar remains optimistic about Imad’s involvement in the upcoming World Cup games, saying, “Although Imad won’t play the first game, we hope that he will be available for the rest of the matches.”

Imad’s absence could potentially affect the team’s dynamics in their upcoming game against the USA this Thursday.

Looking ahead, Pakistan’s team is scheduled to compete against India on Sunday, June 9, and will face Canada on Tuesday, June 11.
