A four-member security assessment team from the UK Department for Transport (UK-DfT) expressed satisfaction with the security measures at Islamabad International Airport. The UK and several other EU countries had previously suspended PIA’s flight operations due to concerns about the authenticity of pilot licenses.

The UK inspectors evaluated the airport’s aviation procedures, including passenger handling, crew operations, baggage delivery, vehicle screening, and security measures for aircraft and cargo.

ASF officials briefed the British team on various security measures, including those specifically for UK flights.

“Additional security measures for direct flights to the UK and other airport measures were also examined. All entities responsible for aviation security at the airport were scrutinized and generally met the standards set by the UK-DfT,” the statement added.

The team expressed satisfaction with the security measures implemented by ASF at the airport.

After completing their review, the four-member UK-DfT team departed Islamabad for the UK. Their final assessment report will be submitted to the CAA within three weeks.
