- IPL 2024 playoffs schedule set after KKR vs RR match was abandoned.
- KKR tops the table with 20 points, followed by SRH, RR, and RCB.
- SRH secured second place by chasing down 215.
The IPL 2024 playoffs schedule has been set following the abandonment of the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals due to rain.
Consequently, KKR topped the table with 20 points, while RR finished third with 17 points.
Despite having the same points as RR, Sunrisers Hyderabad finished higher due to a superior net run-rate from Pat Cummins’ team. After defeating Chennai Super Kings in a virtual knockout on May 18, Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured the fourth spot.
KKR and SRH, being the top two teams on the points table, have two opportunities to qualify for the PSL 9 final, as the loser of Qualifier 1 will face the winner of the Eliminator on May 24.
IPL 2024 Playoffs Schedule
May 21 – Qualifier 1 – Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad – Ahmedabad
May 22 – Eliminator – Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru – Ahmedabad
May 24 – Qualifier 2 – Loser of Qualifier 1 vs Winner of Eliminator – Chennai
May 26 – Final – Winner of Qualifier 1 vs Winner of Qualifier 2 – Chennai
It’s worth noting that SRH chased down 215 against Punjab Kings in the day’s first match and moved to second place on the points table.
During the chase, they lost Travis Head on the very first ball, but a half-century from Abhishek Sharma (66) and quick runs from Rahul Tripathi (33), Heinrich Klaasen (42), and Nitish Reddy (37) ensured they reached the target with ease.
Batting first, Punjab had a fantastic start with openers Prabhsimarn Singh and Atharva Tiade contributing 97. While Taide (46) fell short of his half-century, Prabhsimran (71) achieved it.
Rilee Rossouw (49) kept the attack going until Hyderabad staged a mini comeback in overs 16-19 with Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma failing in a rare game.
However, Jitesh Sharma (32*) capitalized on the 20th over and pushed Punjab’s score over 200.
