FIA busts gang selling govt hospital medicines in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested employees of Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar over their involvement in the theft and sale of medicines.

The largest Lady Reading Hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been exposed to the illegal sale of government-issued medicines.

The FIA has arrested 6 suspects, including three employees of Lady Reading Hospital involved in the sale of medicines. The FIA has started an investigation into the theft and sale of government hospital life-saving drugs.

The FIA officials said the arrested accused were involved in selling government medicines worth millions of rupees. The accused used to illegally sell the government medicines issued to Lady Reading Hospital.

The raids were conducted in different private hospitals in Peshawar on the identification of the accused.

Meanwhile, a huge stock of government medicines has also been recovered from the warehouses of two private medical stores.

Earlier,  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur criticized the federal government and warned of a strong reaction if it does not provide a specific timeline for addressing the province’s key issues.

Speaking at the KP Assembly, CM Gandapur stated that the province had received funds from the Centre after Rs300 billion cut in this fiscal year’s budget.
