Javed Afridi, the proprietor of Peshawar Zalmi, has officially requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to consider Peshawar as a match venue for the forthcoming 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In an email sent to PCB representatives, Afridi voiced his astonishment at the lack of scheduled matches for Peshawar and highlighted the importance of hosting games at Zalmi’s home field.

He also called for collaboration to finish the remaining 20% of the construction work at the Peshawar stadium, mentioning that Zalmi’s team is set to meet with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin on May 13 to discuss the stadium’s preparedness.

Afridi additionally asked PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to form a dedicated committee in Peshawar to guarantee the hosting of PSL matches in the city.

Validating these developments, Afridi shared information on social media, expressing hopefulness about the backing received from the Chief Minister and the PCB Chairman.

“Had a productive call with CM KP @AliAminKhanPTI. He has given directives to the sports department to release funds for the remaining 20% job at Arbab Niaz Stadium Peshawar. Chairman PCB is in favor of hosting Peshawar Zalmi games in Peshawar. Get ready for some thrilling events before PSL, fans will see International Stars at KP Soil. InshaAllah,” Afridi posted on X.

Earlier, Cricket Pakistan reported that during a working group meeting in Lahore on Saturday, the PCB proposed dates for the PSL’s 10th edition that coincide with the Indian Premier League (IPL), resulting in objections from several franchises.

The meeting, which included COO Salman Naseer, senior PCB officials, team owners, and other officials (some participating remotely via Zoom call), discussed potential dates from early April to mid-May. However, numerous team owners expressed reservations about this proposed timeline.
