Daytime temperatures in Karachi, Hyderabad, and parts of Sindh are expected to be 03-05 degrees Celsius higher than usual this week. However, gusty winds and rain towards the weekend will help bring temperatures back to normal.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that high pressure will continue in the upper atmosphere across most of the country, especially in the southern areas. Around May 10th, a westerly wave will likely enter western regions, moving towards the upper parts by May 11th.
This weather system will cause a gradual increase in daytime temperatures throughout Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, from May 8th to May 10th, remaining 03-05°C above average. Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in several areas of Sindh on May 10th (night) and May 11th, which will help normalize temperatures.
Here are some potential impacts and advice:
- Farmers should adjust crop watering and wheat harvesting accordingly.
- The general public should minimize direct exposure to sunlight.
- Be prepared for windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning, which could affect daily activities, crops, and structures like electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels.
