  • Internet and mobile services are expected to be halted in major cities during the by-elections.
  • Section 144 has been enforced in districts where the by-elections will occur.

The Pakistani government is preparing to halt mobile phone services in more than a dozen cities for the upcoming by-elections, scheduled to take place tomorrow, citing security concerns as the primary reason.

As reported by media sources, internet and mobile services are expected to be temporarily suspended in several major cities during the upcoming by-elections in Pakistan.

This anticipated suspension of internet services comes at a time of increased terrorist activities in the South Asian country. Additionally, the Punjab home ministry has requested the federal interior ministry to suspend internet services on the day of the by-elections.

The suspension is likely to affect cities such as Lahore, DG Khan, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Sadiq Abad, Chakwal, Talagang, Alipur, Zafarwal, Bhakkar, Kasur, Alipur, and Kot Chatta.
