Babar Azam, the captain and leading batter of Pakistan, is on the verge of achieving a new record as his team prepares for this month’s T20I series against New Zealand.
At present, Azam has scored 3,698 runs in T20I cricket, trailing only Virat Kohli (4,037 runs) and Rohit Sharma (3,974 runs) in terms of the highest run-scorers in this format of the game.

Azam, who is known for his consistent performance, requires just 339 more runs to match Kohli’s T20I run total.
The New Zealand team arrived in Islamabad on Sunday, and the Pakistan team has also gathered in the capital city following the Eid-ul-Fitr break.
After the initial three matches at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, the teams will relocate to Lahore to play the final two T20Is of the series on April 25 and 27.
Each match in the T20I series is slated to begin at 7:00pm (PST).
