On April 13, around 3:30 p.m., there was a violent incident at Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney, Australia. A 40-year-old man with a knife attacked people, killing five women and one man. He targeted a mother and her baby at first. The attack lasted about 15 minutes until a female police officer intervened and shot the attacker, ending it.

In total, six people died, and three others were stabbed. The incident happened in a busy area in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The police officer who stopped the attacker is being praised as a hero. Eight people, including a 9-month-old baby, were injured, with some needing surgery.

The police say there’s no ongoing threat and that the incident isn’t considered terrorism-related. They’re still investigating the attacker’s motive and haven’t released his identity yet.

Assistant Commissioner Cooke explained that the attacker harmed about nine people in the shopping center with a knife. The police arrived quickly, and the officer shot the attacker on level five after he raised his knife at her.

The police continue to investigate while expressing sympathy for the victims and their families.
