MAKKAH: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman have met after the Saudi premier invited Mr Sharif for an iftar dinner.

Other notable personalities during the meeting included Prime Minister of Bah­rain and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Pakistani PM and Saudi Crown have reiterated their joint commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The Crown Price welcomed the delegation led by the Pakistani PM. Shehbaz expressed gratitude for warm welcome from the Crown Prince.

The Crown Prince later held iftar dinner for the Pakistani PM along with members of the delegation which was followed by a one-on-one meeting on the core topics of bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

The two leaders appreciated the continuing brotherly relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister conveyed prayers and positive thoughts for the health and well-being of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, who holds the esteemed position of Custodian of the Holy Haram.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif along with his delegation is on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia.

Accompanying Mr Sharif were Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Mini­ster Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Mr Sharif and the members of the delegation left for Makkah to perform Umrah after the meeting.

Providing better health care facilities to Pakistanis top priority: PM Sharif

Mr Sharif, on the World Health Organization Day which was being observed on Sunday, restated the government’s dedication to ensuring health facilities for all people in Pakistan.

“Towards our destination of a healthier nation, I once again reiterate the commitment of the government to transform Pakistan’s healthcare sector at all levels that will ensure that every Pakistani has access to quality healthcare,” he said.

Improving health care facilities and better governance were the top priority for the government to ensure timely health facilities to all people as PML-N mentioned in their manifesto.

“We will also encourage provincial governments to expand and upgrade health facilities, launch mobile health clinics for enhanced access, re-energise immunisation and improve mental health services,” the PM Office Media Wing quoted the prime minister as saying in a press release.

Mr. Shehbaz highlighted the government’s commitment to healthcare development, including the establishment of a medical city, a cancer hospital, and kidney and liver institute facilities across all provinces. He also mentioned the Health Card initiative launched during the PML-N’s 2013-18 tenure, aiming for universal health coverage and insurance, particularly for low and middle-income families. On World Health Day, he praised the relentless efforts of health workers in serving the nation.
