Lahore private schools barred from collecting these funds; details inside

Private schools in Lahore can only charge monthly tuition and admission fees, as directed by the government to ease financial burdens on parents.

The Lahore Deputy Commissioner, Rafia Haider, cited the Punjab Private Educational Institutions (Promotion and Regulation) Ordinance 1984, which prohibits schools from collecting additional funds like technology fees and from forcing students to buy uniforms and books from specific shops.

Haider instructed the Education Lahore CEO, Pervez Akhtar, to ensure this rule is enforced citywide. Any schools found violating these regulations will face penalties under the same ordinance. The CEO emphasized that action will be taken against such schools after a notice is served, and complaints may be filed with the District Registering Authority for penalties.

Furthermore, schools must submit reports proving compliance with these rules. This measure aims to uphold fairness and alleviate financial strain on parents associated with non-tuition-related fees in private schools.
