Samsung releases April 2024 security update for galaxy S24 series

Samsung has commenced the rollout of the April 2024 security update for its Galaxy S24 series, which introduces the April 1, 2024, security patch alongside enhancements to the camera system.

This latest update improves the performance of the Galaxy S24 series cameras, particularly enhancing image quality in low-light scenarios and refining white balance and exposure precision. It also enhances text sharpness in images captured at high zoom levels and enhances color accuracy in photos taken using the ExpertRAW camera application.

Additionally, as promised in February, Samsung has upgraded the Instant Slow-Mo feature by introducing support for 480p resolution video in the April 2024 update.

The update is currently being distributed to Galaxy S24 series devices in South Korea, India, and Europe, with file sizes ranging from approximately 600 MB to 900 MB. Users who have not yet received the update can manually search for it by navigating to Settings > Software update on their devices.

However, there have been reports of a hardware issue affecting the Galaxy S Pen included with the new S24 Ultra. Users on platforms like Reddit and community forums have complained about their S Pens emitting a burnt plastic odor. This issue has been confirmed by several users and prominent publications such as 9to5Google and Gizmochina.

These publications have verified that the problem also affects older generations of S series phones like the S23 and S22 Ultra, although the Note 20 Ultra does not seem to be affected by this issue.
