Balochistan Govt forms committee to probe death of miners in Harnai

QUETTA: The Minerals Department of Balochistan has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the death of 12 miners due to a gas explosion in a coal mine in District Harnai.

12 miners were killed in the Harnai coal mine accident while 8 miners were rescued alive, the coal mine was sealed after the incident.

Secretary Minerals has formed a 5-member investigation committee to probe the Harnai coal mine accident, which will complete the investigation and submit a report within three days.

Additional Secretary Minerals Dr. Atiq Shahwani will head the committee while other members will include DG Minerals Abdullah Shahwani, PMDC Coalmine In-charge Engineer Asfandyar, Mines Labor Commissioner Khalil Ahmed, and Mines Inspector Muhammad Atif.

Couple of days ago, a powerful methane gas explosion at Khost coal mines in the Harnai district claimed the lives of 12 miners, while eight others miraculously survived.

Earlier, Security forces successfully thwarted an attempted assault on the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Complex, eliminating all eight terrorists affiliated with the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), as stated by security sources.
