Petrol prices in Pakistan are set to increase in March 2024, aligning with global trends. The federal government anticipates a rise in gasoline and diesel rates for the first half of the month, reflecting heightened international prices.
The outgoing caretaker administration proposes a Rs4 per liter hike in petrol and up to a Rs1.5 per liter increase in diesel prices, considering import costs and exchange rates.
International markets show petrol prices climbing by $0.5 to $90.78 per barrel, while diesel prices slightly dip to $101.05 per barrel.
Presently, petrol sells at Rs275.62 per liter, with diesel priced at Rs287.33 per liter in Pakistan.
On March 1, if government approval is granted, petrol could cost Rs 279.62 per liter, and diesel may rise to Rs 288.83 per liter.
This expected adjustment reflects the ongoing fluctuations in global oil prices.
Currently, petrol stands at Rs 275.62 per liter, with an anticipated increase on the horizon from March 1, 2024. Consumers are advised to stay informed about any changes in petrol prices, which currently stand at Rs275.62 per liter as of February 29.
