Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old member of the US Air Force working as a DevOps Engineer, tragically set himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, on February 25, 2024. During a live stream on Twitch, he expressed support for the Palestinian people before taking this extreme step.
Despite efforts to save him, Bushnell succumbed to his injuries. The incident, livestreamed on Twitch and later shared on Twitter, sparked concerns about extreme protests against Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Bushnell, born in Massachusetts in 1998, was known for his fun-loving nature and involvement in local activities like indoor marching bands. He was pursuing a degree in computer software engineering and held a CompTIA Security+ certification.
Although he had affiliations with anarchist groups, Bushnell chose a career in the Air Force, where he worked as a DevOps Engineer. His tragic act raises questions about the complexities of his life and the events leading up to his drastic action.
