Google unveiled its latest artificial intelligence (AI) model, Gemini 1.5, approximately two months after its initial launch.
“The model delivers dramatically enhanced performance, with a breakthrough in long-context understanding across modalities,” stated the company in a Thursday blog post.
Additionally, the new model arrives just one week following the debut of the Gemini 1.0 Ultra, which Google claims to be its “most capable model.” Google stated that Gemini 1.5 Pro, the initial version of Gemini 1.5, achieves similar quality to 1.0 Ultra while requiring fewer computations.
“This new generation also delivers a breakthrough in long-context understanding,” CEO Sundar Pichai stated in the post.
Pichai stated that Google has substantially enhanced the models’ ability to process information, consistently managing up to one million tokens and achieving the longest context window of any large-scale foundation model to date.
“Longer context windows show us the promise of what is possible. They will enable entirely new capabilities and help developers build much more useful models and applications,” he added. —AA.
