In a historic stride for Turkey’s space exploration endeavors, Alper Gezeravci, the nation’s first astronaut, is spearheading a pioneering Oxygen Saturation experiment aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The Turkish Space Agency announced today that the research, in collaboration with Istanbul-based Nisantasi University, aims to unveil the nuanced effects of low gravity on the human body by meticulously calculating the oxygen levels in the air using cutting-edge artificial intelligence.

Launched as part of the Ax-3 mission, Gezeravci and his team embarked on their celestial journey from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
