- Saqlain Mushtaq left the Muiltan Sultans.
- He was appointed in October 2023.
- David Parsons will take his place.
Saqlain Mushtaq, initially appointed as the spin bowling coach for the Multan Sultans in the upcoming PSL season, has decided to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.
Former ECB performance director David Parsons will now step in as his replacement. Parsons, who previously served as the ECB’s national spin bowling coach, is currently the performance director for England Netball.
Despite his recent focus beyond cricket, he had positive interactions with Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen during his time at the team’s academy. Parsons previously worked with young spinners, including Faisal Akram, who is now part of Multan’s squad.
Parsons will be assisted by former England Women’s spinner Alex Hartley in his coaching role. It’s noteworthy that Saqlain was initially appointed as Sultans’ spin bowling coach in October 2023.
“We were delighted to have Saqlain Mushtaq on board because there is nothing better than having local experience and a name as big as his. But, some scheduling difficulties had emerged because of which we had to put our partnership on hold. We will definitely make use of his experience at some stage in the future,” Sultans’ owner and chief executive Ali Khan Tareen said.
