Saudi Arabia bars visit visa holders from entering Makkah during Hajj

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Ministry of Interior has imposed restriction on entry to Makkah for all individuals holding visit visas during the forthcoming Hajj season, from May 23 to June 21, 2024.

The Saudi ministry in a statement issued on Thursday that visit visas holders do not grant permission to perform Hajj .

The ministry has advised visit visa holders without permission for Hajj to avoid travelling to Makkah during this time to avoid penalties according to Saudi regulations.

Security and organizational measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of authorized pilgrims during the Hajj rituals.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar and Justice Shaukat Ali Rakhshani of the Balochistan High Court heard the petition filed against PTI founder Imran Khan for action under Article 6.

This petition was filed in the Balochistan High Court on behalf of lawyer Amanullah Kanrani.

The court dismissed the request for proceedings against Imran Khan under Article 6, which is dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.

PM forms high level committee for medical education

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif formed a 25-member committee to solve the problems of medical education in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar as the convener of the Medical Education Committee. Other members of the committee include Prime Minister Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health Affairs Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed and MNA Nafisa Shah, and other relevant officers. The vice chancellors of universities are also part of committee.

The committee will review the quality of public and private medical colleges and universities, consider the situation of medical colleges and the challenges they are facing and then make their suggestions regarding the solutions to the problems of medical colleges.

The committee members will review the shortage of admission seats in public and private medical colleges and universities, consider the gap between demand and supply of medical education and prepare an action plan related to medical education.
