Elon Musk gets involved in a social media dispute

Elon Musk
  • Elon Musk proposed a peace plan that would recognise Russian sovereignty over Crimea.
  • Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky responded with a Twitter poll of his own,
  • Musk also stated that given Russia’s far greater population, Moscow may declare a full mobilisation,

Elon Musk, a US billionaire, engaged Ukrainian leaders, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a social media debate on Monday on how to stop Russia’s invasion.

On Twitter, Musk proposed a peace plan that would recognise Russian sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula, hold new annexation referendums in the parts of Ukraine that Moscow has controlled under UN supervision, and provide Ukraine a neutral status.

The inventor of Tesla and SpaceX set up a poll for his more than 107 million followers to vote on the proposition.

Zelensky responded with a Twitter poll of his own, asking: “Which @elonmusk do you like more?” with the options “One who supports Ukraine” and “One who supports Russia”.

Kyiv´s ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk replied bluntly: “My very diplomatic response (to Musk) is to get lost.”

Mykhaylo Podolyak, a presidential adviser for Ukraine, proposed a “better peace plan” in which Russia would be demilitarised and denuclearized, “war criminals” would be tried before an international court, and Ukraine would reclaim its lands, including Crimea.

Musk also stated that given Russia’s far greater population, Moscow may declare a full mobilisation, resulting in a “full war” where “kill on both sides will be horrific.”

“Victory for Ukraine is unlikely in total war. If you care about the people of Ukraine, seek peace,” he wrote on Twitter.

‘Honor cordon’ ceremony for COAS Bajwa will held at Pentagon

army
  • US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will host an “honor cordon” on Tuesday for COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pentagon
  • COAS is in the United States for a weeklong visit and is expected to meet with defense and intelligence chiefs
  • US-Pakistan relations are diversifying, but defense and security ties have always been stronger

WAHINGTON:  US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin Head will host an “honor cordon” on Tuesday for Pakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pentagon.

General Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) is in the United States for a weeklong visit and is expected to meet with defense and intelligence chiefs.

According to the US Department of Defense’s website, Austin will hold an “honor cordon” to welcome the COAS to the Pentagon on the River Entrance stairs. It was also stated that the event would be covered by the media.

Honor cordons are traditionally reserved in the United States for the president, vice president, statutory appointees, and general or flag officers of the country’s military. The cordon is also extended to foreign dignitaries in positions comparable to those held by certain US authorities, as well as on times when such ceremonies promote international goodwill.

In the first phase of his journey, the army chief arrived in the United States on Friday and met with UN officials in New York.

Officials in Pakistan have been tight-lipped about the travel, but sources revealed that the army chief began meeting with senior officials in Washington DC on Monday.

Officials who spoke to the media claimed that Gen Bajwa will remain in the United States for a few more days. They also described the trip as significant since it exemplifies the two countries’ “strong relations.”

According to sources, US-Pakistan relations are diversifying, but defense and security ties have always been stronger.

The army commander’s journey to the United States had been postponed at least three times in the previous year, according to sources, who added that the army leadership will meet with defense and security officials during this trip.

Cara Delevingne is emulating her mother’s substance abuse,

Cara Delevingne
  • Cara Delevingne stunned at New York Fashion Week after ditching the launch of the ‘Cara Loves Karl’ collection.
  • In September, she boarded a private jet owned by Jay Z and unexpectedly deplaned 45 minutes later.
  •  Her Mom Pandora struggled with drug abuse during Cara’s childhood.

Cara Delevingne stunned at New York Fashion Week on September 13, after she ditched the launch of the ‘Cara Loves Karl’ collection.

After being seen looking dishevelled at the LA airport, the model’s followers were concerned for her health and were relieved to see her. In September, after she purportedly boarded a private jet owned by Jay Z and unexpectedly deplaned 45 minutes later, Delevingne was seen by cameras wandering around erratically in filthy socks.

Delevingne returned to her usual elegant carelessness in Paris, posing in a black blazer dress with a plunging neckline, thigh-high black heels, and bold red lipstick.

However, some insiders reveal to The Post that Delevingne’s appearance in Paris belied an ongoing substance abuse issue. Delevingne has confessed to dabbling with drugs in the past, but not confirmed if she is currently battling an addiction. “A doctor friend told me they’re planning to stage an intervention,” a London-based fashion and modelling insider told The Post. “Everyone knows her mother abused substances for years. Her mother is lucky to be alive. Cara spent her whole life being around drugs. She comes from a very troubled family.”

Cara’s mother, Pandora Delevingne, 63, is the daughter of flamboyant publishing tycoon Sir Jocelyn Stevens and Janie Sheffield, a former lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret. Reportedly, she even helped Kate Middleton as a stylist sometimes. According to Page Six, Pandora struggled with drug abuse during Cara’s childhood and was also diagnosed as bipolar.

In a 2020 interview with the Daily Mail, Pandora revealed she used heroin only days after her 18th birthday and she was hooked from that moment forward. After beating her addiction, she kept struggling with addiction to other substances. This is what she said, “I had one go and that was it. It was the drug for me. It gave me all the things I didn’t have – self-confidence mainly.

“My parents, who had to be quite strong with me by the end until I hit rock bottom, checked me into a treatment centre in Weston-super-Mare. Later on, it was morphine pills, opiate-based pills, the strongest painkillers you can get. I just wanted to be able to live a normal day without the anxiety – or what I thought was normal. For a while I would [but], of course, the addiction caught up with me. It always does.”
