“Peace in Afghanistan is imperative for regional security”: Sheikh Rasheed

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed has on Sunday said Pakistan committed to peace in Afghanistan but will not hand over bases for any attacks in neighbouring countries.

Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi today, Sheikh Rasheed said peace in Afghanistan is imperative for regional security.

He said Pakistan has always desired peace in Afghanistan and would welcome any decision made by the Afghan people for their homeland.

The interior minister said Pakistan will not side with any party in Afghanistan as stability in Afghanistan is in the interest of our own homeland.

He pushed the Kabul government and the Afghan Taliban to negotiate and find out a solution to the conflict that is acceptable to all the parties.

“Taliban in Afghanistan now have changed,” the minister said adding, now they understand that peace can only be achieved through dialogues.

Earlier, Sheikh Rasheed had rejected an “irresponsible statement” by India’s minister of state for home affairs regarding an alleged drone attack in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).

Speaking to media officials today, he had said Pakistan wants to have good relations with all countries, including India. However, he said, India will have to give the right to self-determination to the oppressed Kashmiris.

“Pakistan has nothing to do with a drone attack in IIOJK, New Delhi should provide evidence supporting its allegations against Pakistan,” he said.

The minister strongly denounced the statement of the Indian minister for the state of home affairs and said New Delhi used to put every blame of its failure on Pakistan.

Discussing the Afghanistan issue, Rashid said work on fencing along the border with Afghanistan has been done by eighty-eight percent while forty-six percent on the Iranian border.

The Minister said Pakistan is not allowing anyone to use its land against any country, and other countries should also ensure it.

He said India would desire that peace doesn’t establish in Afghanistan; however, Pakistan has been making sincere efforts for peace in Afghanistan.

Responding to a question, the Interior Minister urged the opposition parties to sit with the government to introduce electoral for transparent elections in the future.

Sheikh Rasheed hoped for peace and stability in Afghanistan after the pulling out of US troops.

The mother of two also detailed her entire pregnancy journey and how she managed to write her book.

“This has been quite the journey… both my pregnancies and writing my Pregnancy Bible. There were good days and bad days; some days I was raring to go to work and others where I struggled to get out of bed. This book is a very personal account of what I experienced both physically and emotionally through both my pregnancies,” the caption along with her post read.

“In many ways, this book is like my third child…from conception to its birth today, she added.

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s first child – son Taimur – was born in December 2016, he is four now. Earlier this year, the couple had welcomed their second child – a baby son.

London on Sunday will host 65,000 fans at Wembley Stadium for the Euro 2020 final, the biggest crowd at a British football stadium since the start of the pandemic, as England will take on Italy.

England and Italy are counting down to today’s Euro 2020 final, with Gareth Southgate’s men seeking to end 55-year trophy aridity but the Italians aiming to spoil the Wembley party.

England began the tournament as one of several contenders to lift the trophy and have taken advantage of playing all but one of their matches at home.

Southgate’s men will be willed on by the vast majority of a crowd that created a crackling atmosphere for England’s second-round match against Germany and the semi-final against Denmark.

“We’ve all waited so long as players, as public, as people to see us in a final,” said Kane. “So these are the opportunities you have to grab with both hands.

“We have an amazing chance to win our second major trophy as a country. The players we’ve had over the years and produced, we feel proud to be representing them as well.

“We’ve got to be excited about it, we’ve got to enjoy it, but of course, any football match, we’re all winners here, we all want to win, and we’re going to need every bit of that to get the job done on Sunday.”

Note that thousands of tickets for England’s Euro 2020 finale are being sold at record prices in the black market, according to media reports.

British media reported that English and Italian fans are rushing to black markets for tickets as the Euro 2020 final nears after England won the semi-final match against Denmark on Thursday.

Last week, UEFA’s official website announced all tickets had sold out but excited fans have now turned to black markets in hopes to snap up tickets.

Seats are going for five figures on secondary ticketing websites despite UEFA regulations banning their resale above face value.

A pair of tickets to Sunday’s game, available on the resale website Ticombo, are the most expensive ones listed for 40,000 pounds, media reports added.

Ticket sales for the final match have seen an increase and many reports of scams and phishing have also surfaced.

UFC 264: McGregor Loses To Poirier After Freak Leg Break

Dustin Poirier has conquered Conor McGregor in their trilogy bout after the Irishman seemed to have broken his leg with just seconds remaining in the first round at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 264.

Conor McGregor suffered what appears to be a freak broken leg just before the end of the round after absorbing a punch that sent him backwards at the UFC 264 against Poirier.

The doctors were immediately called into the octagon and it was clear that McGregor could not continue.

The referee Herb Dean was instructed to declare a stop to the bout by the doctor.

Interviewed in the octagon with his leg in a cast, McGregor roared about his loss.

“I was boxing the head off him, kicking the leg off him, (he was doing) the usual, diving to close the distance. This is not over – if I have to take this outside with him, it’s on outside,” he raged.

However, Dustin Poirier said McGregor initially injured the leg earlier in the bout checking a kick.

“He fractured it in one of the checks earlier in the fight and it broke on a punch,” he said.

“When I pointed at it at the beginning of the fight, that’s when he did it. I felt something. He was kicking me hard. “Just on the twist of the punch,” he said.

McGregor was seen yelling at officials, telling them the fight should be called off due to a doctor stoppage, rather than via TKO.

“I was boxing the bleeding head off him,” McGregor said.

“(He) dived aside to close the distance. This is not over. If I have to take this outside with him, it’s on. I don’t give a bollocks.

“There was no check. Not one of them I checked.”

Pliskova’s progress to the final had been somewhat under the radar because of a poor run in the build-up.

Her only previous Grand Slam final was the 2016 US Open, and since then she had reached only two more major semi-finals before this year’s Wimbledon.

Coming into the match she had hit a tournament-leading 54 aces but in the first set here she managed none at all.

She fired five aces in the second as that part of her game began to improve but her nerves were still visible at the changeovers when she repeatedly jigged her legs up and down.

Her emotions spilled over during her on-court interview as her voice broke, saying: “I never cry, never, and now…”

She later added: “It was not the plan to cry because I don’t want to cry on the court. I feel like, OK, cry in the locker room, but not on the court. Somehow I could not.”

“Of course there’s going to be next chances. I think plenty of them. I’m not going to give up on that,” she vowed to come back stronger.

“In the end, the result is we both tried to win so somebody has to lose. You have to accept that. I will definitely.”

“I know how to lose, believe me. I’m so good in that.”

Wimbledon 2021: Djokovic All Set To Chase Men’s Final Victory Against Berrettini

As July 11 is the day for the entire tennis fanbase, Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini are all set for the Wimbledon 2021 final today.

Novak Djokovic says it “would mean everything” to win a sixth Wimbledon 2021 title which would equal Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s all-time record of 20 Grand Slam achievements for men. 

Berrettini, 25, is playing in his first Grand Slam final.

“He’s in great form. He’s serving big, playing big,” said Djokovic, the two-time defending champion.

“So it’s going to be a very tough match I think for both of us. But I’m looking forward to a great battle.”

The 34-year-old is eyeing a third Grand Slam of the year, having already won the Australian Open and French Open titles.

The victory in Paris made him just the third man to win all four majors more than once.

“I imagined myself being in a position to fight for another Grand Slam trophy prior to coming to London,” he said.

“I put myself in a very good position. Anything is possible in the finals. Obviously, experience is on my side.”

On the clay at Roland Garros, Djokovic defended Berrettini in the quarter-finals with a four-set win after a dominant start.

“It’s going to be a great atmosphere”

Matteo Berrettini, the 25-year-old, is the first Italian ever to make a singles final at Wimbledon.

He has a 32-6 win-loss record in 2021, supported by having won all 11 of his matches on the British grass courts.

“My first final in Wimbledon, it’s just crazy to think about it,” said the right-hander. “I think I never dreamed about this because it was too much for a dream.”

“Obviously for Italian people in general, it’s going to be tough Sunday. But I think we deserve it,” he said. 

“I think it’s going to be a special Sunday for all of us. It’s a great day, a great sports day. I’m really happy that together with football tennis is now one of the biggest sports in Italy,” added Berettini.
