Russia plans to tow back destroyed cruiser while Ukraine declares it a missile hit.
Recent updates state that the Black sea cruiser of Russia, after being blown by ammunition on board, is evacuated and ready to taken back to the port. This attack is being denied by Ukraine saying it was a missile hit.
Statements by Russia’s defence ministry declare the explosion on its missile cruiser Moskva, a soviet-era flagship left it into smithereens but overall it’s contained. He further stated that the ship carried 500 on board and still was attacked by the fire, nonetheless to say the cause and who is behind the attack, is being investigated.
On the other hand Southern military command of Ukraine declares that it struck the ship with an anti ship missile Neptune made in Ukraine which caused it to sink.
Both side’s statements are unverified by reuters yet.
United States is also eager to find out regarding the attack but states it lack the important information for now.
In the words, quote
“We don’t have the capacity at this point to independently verify that but certainly, the way this unfolded, it’s a big blow to Russia,” Jake Sullivan, national security adviser said.
As Russia prepares to invade Eastern region Donbas, which appears to be a important aspect in the outcome of whole conflict, this destruction or loss of Moskva may set Russia back further as it had already been stuttered by sanctions all over as the war leads to it’s 50th day.
After weakening of its invasion on Kyiv, the Russia has called the troops and takes a step back. Yet the western allies of Ukraine clues that Russia may be planning to re attack.
On this situation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy , in an address on Wednesday: quote;
“Russian forces are increasing their activities on the southern and eastern fronts, attempting to avenge their defeats,”
As Russia’s navy launches more cruise missiles into Ukraine, the military activities in the Black Sea appear crucial to further land operations in country’s south side , where Russia is struggling to seize full power of Mariupol port after bombarding.
The Moskva cruiser was equipped with 16 anti-ship missile cruisers of Vulkan nature which had a massive range of 700km (440 miles) and this ship was commissioned back in 1983.
Kyiv says the Moskva had invaded one of the landmarks on Snake island near Ukrainian border in the very beginning of this Russia-Ukraine war where the armed forces asked the small outcrop group in Black sea to surrender to which they replied “Go fuck yourself”.
Consecutively, Ukraine’s deputy PM still asks for peace treaty and says the humanitarian corridors for agreeing to cease war are still open for Russia. What happens next in the conflict, only time will tell.
