As Berlin ramps up its efforts to wean itself off of Moscow’s exports as a result of the conflict in Ukraine, Germany’s import embargo on oil from Russian pipelines has gone into effect.

This comes at the same time as the ban was put into effect.

Since the 5th of December, the EU has had a ban on Russian crude oil that is being delivered by sea, but they have established an exception for oil that is being transferred via pipeline.

On the other hand, Germany and Poland have committed to not taking use of these exceptions and to cease using oil that is transported through the Druzhba pipeline as of the first of the year.
