According to a statement released by the Thai royal palace on Thursday, Princess Bajrakitiyabha of Thailand is now in a stable condition following her admission to the hospital for treatment of a cardiac issue.

The princess, who is 44 years old, lost consciousness early on Wednesday in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima. She was sent to the local hospital for treatment.

Later on, after her condition had improved, she was transported to Bangkok by helicopter, and as of Thursday, she was receiving treatment at the Chulalongkorn hospital in Bangkok.

According to the palace, the princess lost consciousness while working with her dog to prepare for a competition that was organized by the army.

Although Princess Bajrakitiyabha is King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s oldest daughter, she is not now the next in line to the throne because the crown is traditionally handed down to male heirs before it is given to female descendants.

She served as the Thai ambassador to Austria for a number of years and has been involved in a variety of programs with the United Nations, including efforts to promote equal rights for women.
