A strong movement has sprung up in response to allegations levelled against a university professor.

The claims against a professor at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) began as a trickle; but swiftly developed into a downpour, first online; then on national television.

The case, dubbed #TechnoHarrasser, went viral in early June; prompting the physics professor’s suspension from work; and a referral to Jordan’s prosecutor general’s office for further inquiry.
Jordanians have been outraged by the case; not only because of the number of students who have come forward to report the professor’s alleged sexual harassment; but also because it has sparked a larger debate about the prevalence of sexual harassment in Jordanian society.
