By executing the quickest-ever surgery to separate a pair of conjoined twins; a medical team in Turkiye has broken a previous world record. The team, led by Prof. Mehmet Veli Karaaltin, an M.D.; with a focus on plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery; needed nine hours to complete the complicated procedure; at Istanbul’s Acibadem Hospital. The twins, who were born conjoined at the breastbone in Algeria; but have two different hearts; were reportedly safely separated using a variety of cutting-edge treatments.
