A 75-year-old Brazilian was given the Guinness World Record for attending the most FIFA World Cup events.

Daniel Sbruzzi, a native of Taubaté, So Paulo, attended his first World Cup in 1978 in Argentina, and this year’s tournament in Qatar brought his total to 11.

Attending World Cups, according to Sbruzzi’s statement to Guinness World Records, allows him to “link the great passions” of his life, namely soccer and cultural exploration.

The superfan stated that he brought his own culture to most tournaments by promoting his carnival block, “Bloco Vai Quem Quer,” or “Whoever wants can go.”

“A trait of Bloco Vai Quem Quer is that men dress up as women during the carnival period and parade in the streets. I try to take the culture from my city around the world,” Sbruzzi said.

Due to the clothing code, he stated that the Qatar World Cup was the only event where he did not wear a female-inspired outfit.

Sbruzzi stated that he already has plans to surpass his own attendance record by attending the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Sbruzzi stated, “I feel how much I represent the fans’ passion for World Cups, and I am proud to be Brazilian.”
