England pacer Mark Wood once again grabbed attention with his incredible speed, delivering the fastest Test over ever recorded by an English pacer at home during the second Test match against West Indies at Trent Bridge on Friday.

Wood, 34, is among the world’s fastest bowlers and continues to demonstrate his prowess. In his first over of the match, the right-armer bowled a scorching 93.9 mph (151.1 kmph) ball to West Indies’ opener Mikyle Louis. The Windies opener had no time to adjust as he was beaten by a 96.1 mph (154.65 kmph) delivery.

Wood’s other deliveries in the over were 95.2 mph (152.88 kmph), 92.2 mph (148.06 kmph), 96.5 mph (155.30 kmph) Yorker, and 95.2 mph (153.20 kmph).

The Windies batters continued to struggle against Wood’s pace in his second over, which included deliveries clocked at 95 mph (152 kmph), 93 mph (149.66 kmph), 95 mph (152 kmph), 96 mph (154.49 kmph), 97.1 mph (156.26 kmph), and 94 mph (151.27 kmph).

Wood’s fastest Test ball was clocked at 156.6 kmph against Pakistan in the Multan Test in 2022. He also bowled the quickest delivery of the T20 World Cup 2022, which England won under the leadership of Jos Buttler.

After being asked to bat first, England posted 416 runs in 88.3 overs before losing all their wickets. Ollie Pope scored a brilliant century with 121 runs off 167 balls including 16 boundaries, while Ben Duckett (71 off 59) and Ben Stokes (69 off 104) also played crucial innings.
