Babar, Rizwan add new bat to their kit
Pakistan captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan have added new bats to their kit in preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024, starting on June 1 in the United States and West Indies.
Details reveal that Azam and Rizwan traveled from Leeds to Sussex, spending considerable time at a local bat manufacturing factory. They ensured their bats were suited for aggressive stroke-play, keeping the T20 World Cup in mind.
The Pakistan team is currently in England for a four-match T20I series against the hosts.
It was reported earlier today that Pakistan might make three changes to their playing XI for the first T20I against England on May 22 in Leeds.
Fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, along with top-order batter Usman Khan, are likely to be included. Opener Saim Ayub and pacer Hasan Ali, who played in the third T20I against Ireland in Dublin recently, might be dropped.
Haris and Usman did not participate in the three-match T20I series against Ireland, which Pakistan won 2-1.
Additionally, the team management is considering dropping one pacer to make room for either Shadab Khan or Abrar Ahmed.
Pakistan is expected to field their strongest team during the England series to test their World Cup combination.
The final decision will be made after consulting with head coach Gary Kirsten, who will join the Pakistan squad tomorrow.
