Artur Beterbiev, the undefeated world champion who eventually won the WBC, IBF, and WBO titles, defeated British light heavyweight Anthony Yarde.

In eight exhilarating rounds on Saturday at London’s Wembley Arena, Beterbiev prevailed.

After a count, the challenger’s camp asked the referee to suspend the fight two minutes and one second into the round after the 38-year-devastating old’s right drove the Briton to the ground.

Beterbiev, 38, of Montreal, was trailing on two of the three judges’ scorecards before the knockout, which improved his professional record to 19-0-0.

31-year-old Yarde has 23 victories, three losses, and no draws.

“He gave one of the top boxers in the world his toughest bout,” promoter George Warren remarked of Yarde.

“I had him set up (on the scorecard). It was almost like a pendulum combat, as it swung like one. Anthony got off to a great start. He demonstrated his ability to injure him while while keeping him at away.”

Beterbiev also believed that his upcoming match against Dmitry Bivol, the undefeated WBA champion from Russia, might take place for the uncontested title.

“I want Bivol,” he declared. “This is everything right now. We have four belts in this battle, and I believe it will be a great fight.”

Yarde entered the fight as the underdog, but his standing is sure to improve with a strong performance.
