Prince Harry is talking about the moment he mustered the confidence to approach Queen Elizabeth II and request her blessing for his engagement to Meghan Markle.

The Duke of Sussex describes the horrifying moment in his book, writing: “She was impatiently waiting for me to respond when I noticed her doing so. Out with it, she beamed on her face. I huffed. Granny, as you are aware, I adore Meg and have made the decision to ask her to marry me. However, I have been informed that I must first obtain your consent in order to make the proposal.”

The Queen then enquired, “You must?”

Harry answered: “Hmm. Well, that is what both my staff and your staff tell me. that I must request your consent. I was as immobile as the birds in my palms as I stood still. I tried to read her face but couldn’t. Finally, she remarked: Well, I guess I have to say yes.”
