  • Resolution for new permanent monument  was overwhelmingly approved
  • Queen Elizabeth new statue will be placed in a “prominent, public location.”
  • MPs called for a statue on Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth.

According to a recent claim, Queen Elizabeth II’s new statue would be put in a “prominent” London site.

A resolution for a new permanent monument to Britain’s late Queen was overwhelmingly approved by the London Assembly. The site will be selected “in consultation with the royal family.”

It came after MPs called for a statue to be erected on Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth shortly after her death in September.

Conservative AM Nick Rogers proposed the proposal last week, saying that a “prominent, public location” would be a “fitting accolade” to perpetuate her legacy.

An original version of the motion said that the monument should be put on Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth, but the final language stated that its site should “be decided in consultation with the Royal Family.”
