At least three police officers were injured on Saturday when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the Khar tehsil of Bajaur district.

The deputy superintendent of police (DSP) stated that other officers, including the station house officer (SHO), were uninjured in the explosion.

Following the blast, authorities launched a search for the doubts in the Bhai Cheena area. The injured officers were quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.

This attack occurred just two days after a blast at a police station in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed two people and injured several others.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Haroon Rasheed, the explosion happened in the station’s warehouse, where explosives seized from terrorists were stored.

Violent attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the border regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, have surged since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan in 2021.

According to data from the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) shows that attacks increased from 38 in July to 59 in August, with 29 in KP, 28 in Balochistan, and two in Punjab. KP alone experienced 25 deaths from 29 terrorist attacks in August.

In response to rising terrorism, the federal cabinet approved Operation Azm-e-Istehkam in June, a renewed national counter-terrorism campaign under the National Action Plan to eliminate terrorism.
