On the opening day of the first Test between India and South Africa at Eden Gardens, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah found himself in hot water due to a controversial remark.

The incident took place when South African captain Temba Bavuma was facing an LBW appeal on a delivery from Bumrah. The ball struck Bavuma’s pad, and while Bumrah strongly appealed, the umpire ruled it not out.

Following the decision, Bumrah and his teammates were deliberating whether to review the call via DRS when Bumrah’s voice was captured on the stump mic. He was heard allegedly mocking Bavuma’s height by saying “he’s a dwarf,” followed by an expletive.

Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant could also be heard repeating the same comment, which sparked further debate on social media.

The clip quickly went viral, spreading across multiple platforms, and generating significant backlash from cricket fans.
