CAPE TOWN: South African opener Tazmin Brits has etched a remarkable chapter in women’s cricket history by registering her fifth One Day International century of the calendar year, setting a new global record during her side’s commanding win over New Zealand in the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Tazmin Brits’ scintillating hundred elevated her above India’s Smriti Mandhana, who previously held the record for most ODI centuries in a year, having scored four centuries in both 2024 and 2025. This latest feat also marked the seventh century of Brits’ flourishing ODI career.

Displaying exceptional form and composure, Brits anchored South Africa’s successful run chase with a masterful 101, crafted with 15 fours and a six, showcasing her timing, temperament, and technical brilliance on the world stage.

Her performance not only secured a vital win for her team but also reinforced her status as one of the most consistent and dominant figures in international women’s cricket this season.

In Monday’s World Cup fixture, New Zealand posted a competitive total of 231 in 48 overs after electing to bat first.
