BANGKOK: Pakistan continued its impressive winning streak in the ongoing Asian Under-16 Volleyball Championship in Thailand by defeating defending champions Iran in a thrilling encounter.

In the crossover round match of Group F held on Thursday, Pakistan outclassed Iran with a 3-1 victory, marking their fifth consecutive win in the tournament.

The young Pakistani squad displayed exceptional skill and resilience to overcome one of the tournament’s toughest contenders, solidifying their position as strong title contenders.

Pakistan’s victory against Iran was 25-23, 25-19, 22-25 and 31-29, while in the fourth set there was a thrilling match between the two teams and the match point was equal five times.

The match between Pakistan and Iran lasted for more than two hours.

Pakistan has already secured its place in the top four of the event where it will face India or Japan.

Faizanullah, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Junaid and Saran Baig presented a prominent game from Pakistan. Faizanullah scored 23 points with 21 attack points, Irfan scored 16 points.

In the match, Pakistan won 51-44 in attack points and 15-11 in block points while Iran was better in service points.

Pakistan remained at the top in Group F of this stage, winning both the cross -round matches, the first round of wins against Korea was forwarded by Pakistan.

Pakistan has already secured its place in the top four of the event where it will face India or Japan.
