WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump will not sign the G7 summit communiqué aimed at easing tensions between Israel and Iran.

According to an American official cited by international news agencies, draft statement, prepared at the G7 summit in Canada, includes an appeal for de-escalation in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

It also reaffirms that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons and emphasizes Israel’s right to self-defense.

In addition, the communiqué pledges to uphold stability in global energy markets and broader economic sectors amid rising regional tensions.

In a conversation with the British Prime Minister of the G7 meeting, Trump said that Iran should sign the deal, making sure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons.
