Karachi experiences heavy rainfall, thunderstorms

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rainfall across parts of Sindh starting June 26, as monsoon currents begin to penetrate the northern and central regions of the country.

According to the Met Office, monsoon winds are entering Pakistan and are expected to intensify over the coming days.

Under this weather system, dust storms and rain are likely on June 26 in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, and Dadu. On June 27, similar conditions are expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, and Ghotki.

The authorities have advised residents and local administrations in vulnerable areas to stay alert for possible weather-related disruptions.

According to the PMD, weather in Karachi is likely to remain partly cloudy for the next 3 days, and temperatures are expected to rise in 2 days.

The Meteorological Department said that temperatures could be 37 degrees in the city  on Wednesday and 38 degrees on Thursday, while in Karachi, thunderstorms accompanied by rain and gusty winds are expected between Friday and Sunday, potentially causing temporary disruptions in daily activities and traffic flow.
