ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to take strict action against individuals departed from foreign countries.

In a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the government has decided to take strict action against individuals deported from foreign countries.

Key decisions made during the meeting include: FIRs to be registered against all deported individuals upon arrival in Pakistan while passports of deportees will be cancelled as part of new enforcement measures.

The deported individuals will be placed on the Passport Control List(PCL) for a period of five years.

To further tighten regulations, Minister Naqvi has formed a committee under the Interior Secretary to review and strengthen existing passport laws.

Minister Naqvi stated that deported individuals bring international embarrassment to Pakistan and emphasized that no leniency will be shown in the future.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Interior Secretary, the Director General of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Director General of Passports.
