Weather update; wet spell to continue in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rains and gusty winds in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various regions of Pakistan on Tuesday night and Wednesday, coinciding with the Ashura days.

According to the PMD, moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to penetrate south Sindh and northeast Punjab. Additionally, a westerly wave is influencing the upper parts of the country.

Weather Conditions

  • Islamabad & Rawalpindi: Monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in the twin cities on Tuesday night and Wednesday, with occasional gaps.

  • Other Regions: Similar weather is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh, northeast Punjab, Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
  • Elsewhere: Hot and humid weather will persist in other parts of the country.

Temperature Forecast

  • Islamabad: Maximum temperatures are likely to range between 38-40°C on Wednesday and 37-39°C on Thursday.

  • Rawalpindi: Maximum temperatures are expected to be between 37-39°C on Wednesday and 36-38°C on Thursday.

Recent Weather Observations

In the last 24 hours, hot and humid conditions prevailed over most parts of Pakistan. However, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers were reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Gilgit-Baltistan: Bunji 01

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. Maximum temperature in Dalbandin was recorded at 45°C, and in Turbat at 44°C.
