Pakistan exports first mango consignment to Moscow

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Customs and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has processed the first consignment to export fresh White Chaunsa to Moscow, Russia from Pakistan under the TIR Convention.

The FBR has stated that this is one of the first endeavors to introduce Pakistani fresh fruits and indigenous goods to Russia. It will help local traders capture markets both in Russia and to Europe by road. The consignment has left Pakistan at Taftan/Mirjawa, Iran’s border and is destined to Moscow, Russia via Tehran-Astara (Azerbaijan)-Astrakhan (Russia) route.

The road spreads around 4,600KM from Taftan to Moscow via Astara and it will be covered in seven days. The instant TIR transportation will open this route for Kinnow exports as it will take about 10 days to reach Moscow via Tehran-Astara-Astrakhan route, while the voyage on Karachi-St Petersburg route used to take about 35 days and this will push up Kinnow and other exports to Russia and EU.

Moreover, this consignment belongs to the exporter, M/S Ishfaq and Company, Okara, Sahiwal.
