New York, USA: Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev has been fined a significant amount following an outburst during a U.S. Open match. The former world No. 1’s display of frustration, which included smashing his racket, has cost him a considerable portion of his tournament prize money.

According to a sports news agency, Medvedev was fined a total of $42,500 for his actions. The penalty was split into two separate fines: a $30,000 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct and an additional $12,500 for breaking his racket on the court. The total fine amounts to roughly a third of his tournament earnings.

The incident reportedly occurred after a call made by the chair umpire, which visibly angered the Russian player. His inability to control his emotions resulted in a costly fine, serving as a reminder of the strict rules on player conduct in professional tennis.
