Putin’s invasion is causing a worldwide food crisis

The UN Secretary-General warns that a global food catastrophe is approaching as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Increasing food prices have worsened rising inflation, which has been driven by increased energy prices as the West disengages from Russian oil and gas supplies.

It raises fears that many of the world’s poorest would be unable to feed themselves.

Last week, G7 finance ministers met to discuss the immediate effects of Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, which is also to blame for rising prices.
