Helicopter crashed in Indian state of Chhattisgarh

NEW DELHI: Two pilots were killed in a helicopter crash in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh on Thursday night, officials reported.

The local government’s helicopter crashed at an airfield in Raipur, the state capital of Chhattisgarh.

In a short message released on social media, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “In this tragic accident, both our pilots, Captain Panda and Captain Srivastava, have sadly passed away.”

There were no passengers on board, and the pilots were gravely injured, according to officials.

The pilots were taken to a hospital, where medics confirmed they were dead, according to a local government official.

According to reports, the helicopter crashed when the pilots were practising night flying on the airport’s runway.
